Dean and Meesha Watson started in the fencing industry by joining Jim’s Fencing Perth in 2003. After 16 years of paying fees and having built their own reputation for customer service and fence installations to the highest standards, they left the franchise and struck out on their own becoming Top Notch Fencing and Maintenance.
Having experienced living next to a problem neighbour and having their own fencing dispute that finally ended in court, Meesha and Dean are fully versed in the Dividing Fences Act WA. “We have the experience and knowledge in all facets when it comes to fencing, and are proud of it”. Dean and Meesha are West Australian born and bred and know all about fencing in Perth.
Meesha developed Top Notch Fencing’s own quoting system which splits the shares to each of the parties involved, making it absolutely clear who is responsible for what cost. Not all situations are the same, and not all fencing installations are straight forward. Whilst the dividing fence installation (and removal of the old fencing if applicable) would be shared equally if there is a neighbour, situations on each side of the fence could be very different. For example you might have a nice clear area for us to work in, yet the neighbour has a jungle of vines or trees that will take us a bit to cut back in order to effect repairs. Our pricing would be apportioned to the neighbour for clearing of the fence line, which is only fair as it is their bushes not yours…. Our FAQ sheet has more information, make sure to ask for a copy if you did not receive it with your quote.
After receiving the request to quote the Top Notch team will acknowledge acceptance. On 99% of occasions Dean will arrange to attend site in order to fully understand the property and project. It is so important that we achieve what you are looking to resolve that we spend our time making sure we know absolutely what is involved and give you the most accurate quote possible. You might think it is just installing a fence, but we want to know is there a land level difference, or a slope, where there are steps or if we have to take into account a shed or patio on the fence line (just as examples).
In order to work efficiently, Dean will order his quote requests into an order that prevent him going back and forth across Perth. If there is a specific time that you would like to meet with him to discuss your project, on most occasions this can be arranged. A text message with the time will be sent and a confirmation this time is suitable will be requested.
Dean will attend at the confirmed time, and assess the new fencing requirements. Taking notes of profiles, colours and site he will come back to the office and write the quote. Unless the project is for a specialized project, quotes are sent within a week.
When you and your neighbour (if there is one involved) are happy to proceed, we need an authorisation to be sent to us. This can be done by way of reply email noting the quote number, or by signing and returning the quote. If there is a neighbour, we need their full name, street address, phone number and email address. This detail then means we can communicate with them directly (take some of the work off you) and importantly send them the invoice for their share.
Once we receive authority to proceed, Top Notch Fencing will check that we have all the details we need and send an acknowledgement of the authority to proceed with works emailing you and your neighbour. Our office will put all your paperwork together and have Dean schedule the job into our calendar. We understand once you have authorised us to proceed that you are keen to have your new fencing built, however we work like a queue in Woolworths. Once we receive your paperwork, your job joins the queue. An email with an anticipated start date is sent advising the date your job is scheduled for. Sometimes this can change and be brought forward, but depends on what happens with the jobs in front of yours.
Your order is entered into our accounting system and a deposit for works requested. Deposits made are accounted and a receipt sent.
As we come up to your install date, one of our team will confirm the start time with all parties. On the day, the boys will arrive and let everyone know they are there. Works are carried out and again, once done, the team will let you know they are done and ask you check over the works before they leave.
When the fencing crew get back to the office, they will leave the paperwork and let us know if there are any changes (maybe they didn’t need to do the paving relay after repairs or there was a change to metreage). The office team will make any changes required and send the invoice for the final balance.
And that’s it. Job done. Your nice new fence to admire and provide you with your own little sanctuary.
